Bo Johansen, DK

Bo Johansen is a percussionist with great love for Cuban and Afro-Cuban music. Bo plays with the orchestras “Little Havana” and “Liga Latina”.  Bo is one of the few Danish musicians who play the special Cuban Bata drums and at Nordic Salsa Camp 2019 Bo will play bata-drums in the culture workshop “Orishas / Afro Cuban rhythmn, body culture & Cuban society”.
Bo has been to Cuba many times, latest in 2018 to get inspiration in his development as a percussionist, where Bo in Havana among others. has been taught percussionists from Conjunto Folklórico National, ISA (Instituto Superior del Arte) and from Isaac Delgado’s famous salsa band.
Bo has been participating from the beginning in the 1980s, when the salsa and cuban music movement began in Denmark. where Bo was involved in the starting the day school “Frontsession” in Aarhus and the Salsa courses at Vestjyllands Højskole. Since then, Bo has taught music at music schools and Folk High Schools in all over the country, where Bo has published a book and CD with Afro-Cuban rhythms and songs, that have been used on eg. conservatories, music schools and high schools, including Nordic Salsa Camp.
Beside the Orisha/Afro culture workshop Bo will help to innovate that music, jam sessions and interplay  will be a strong integrated part of  the social gathering at the Camp 2019.
