Steffen Tofthøj, DK

Steffen can’t help but dance and master everything from hip hop and funk to salsa, reggaeton, bachata and cha cha cha. He calls himself: dancer, choreographer, entertainer and performer and Steffen is instructor at the Aarhus-based dance school Salsaclave. Next, Steffen is the external teacher at Brandbjerg in dance, where he among other participates with Mette Øyås Madsen in the student high school program about “Gender, Body and Sexuality” –  Where Latin American couples dancing is used to train body joy, borders, flirt, intimacy and sensuality. Further Steffen teach dancing at evenst and workshop at the school during the year. Steffen is full of energy and can get ALL people to loosen up in the dance. At the Camp in 2019, Steffen will mainly teach the beginners together with Trine Brask Kristiansen.

Johanna Andersen, DK

Johanna Andersen has taught since 2004 in both Cuban Salsa, LA and bachata with particular Thomas Nygaard Street Salsa in Copenhagen, where they are known for their special focus on contact, technology and transfer it to be led.

Johannas dance heart beats mostly for the Cuban salsa and music with its play, flirt, passion, charisma and joy of dancing. Johanna has particular taught four years in Spain and teaches today at Jacob Lorente at SalsaCubana in Copenhagen.

At the Camp Johanna will teach with Thomas Nygaard, where they are responsible for the special program on the intermediate level, “Lets Play & Move forward!” – Which has been a huge succes since it´s start. .

Thomas Nygaard, DK

Thomas Nygaard has been a dance teacher since 1996 and teaches Cuban salsa, son, bachata and kizomba. Thomas has for many years been the artistic director of the Academy of Street Salsa in Copenhagen and judge at national and international salsa championships. Next, Thomas is a trained actor in drama, performance and storytelling.

Thomas has for many years been very popular dance instructor at the Nordic Salsa Camp, where he is known for his super educational teaching and formidable ability to communicate all aspects of dance from the leding techniques, communication, drama and sensuality.

Thomas this year will teach Cuban salsa with among others Johanna Andersen, where they are responsible for the special program at the intermediate level “Lets Play & Move forward!” with focus on basic salsa. Further Thomas again this year will teach, with high school teacher Gro Mygind, in the culture workshop ” Connection, storytelling  & Leadership”.

Diana Meldgaard, DK

Diana Meldgaard has a her own dance school in Aarhus & loves the Cuban culture, filled with music & dance. She has been dancing since 1996, & won the “Aarhus Open” salsa championship in 1999.  

Diana has lived a year in Cuba, where she studied at the highest level on the national dance school ENA and was given private lessons by teachers from Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba in 2002. Diana’s specialty is Cuban salsa and Afro-Cuban dance and Cuban salsa music. Diana is further the dynamic frontfigure and lead singer of one of the best salsa dance orchestras in Denmark: “Little Havana“.

Diana will at the Camp teach Cuban salsa and a culture workshop in musicality along with Jakob Johansen and Rasmus Sejersen. Further you for sure can find Diana in the many jam sessions activities going on at the Camp during the week, where Diana among others will perform with the Camp Teachers Son-Band at the theme party “Elegant Twins” Tuesday night.

Luis Duarte, PT/DE

Once again we are especially proud to present one of Europe´s most talented and innovating young dancers in Cuban salsa, our own Camp instructor, Luis Duarte from Hamburg. Luis Duarte teaches Cuban salsa at the El Chevere dance school in Hamburg and at his own dance troupe Hot Tumbao.

Luis is a highly recognized teacher at the Camp for his great captivating playful teaching with high quality, energy and pedagogy among others in salsa / hip hop.

In the last year Luis had had a major break through as a dance instructor and are now teaching at many festivals in Europe.

It´s therefor with pleasure that we this year can present Luis as one of the central teachers at the Camp, where he will teach Cuban salsa with his partner assistant, Jennifer Berger.

Geldys Morales, CU

It´s  with great pleasure we again can present Geldys Morales at the Camp. Geldys is educated in Cuban salsa, afro and popular folkloric Cuban dances from the JJ. Afro-dance company in Havana. Further Geldys has participated in many international festivals and salsa events in Venezuela, Austria, Denmark and Norway.

Geldys is a super popular teacher at the Camp, where she is known for her charming teaching style and her excelent body control and her highly professional keen eye and magic touch for reading and supporting students in developing their body awareness and styling.

Geldys will this year have a special program in how to train and improve your body awareness and dance technique.

Yuliet Estrada Linares – CU/NO

We are likewise very happy again to present Yuliet Estrada Linares at the Nordic Salsa Camp. Yuliet is a graduated dancer from Conjunto Folclorico de la Universidad de La Habana in Cuba. Yuliet has lived in Norway since 2008, where she works as a dance teacher and choreographer in Cuban salsa at the dance schools Danseglede and SalsaNor. Further Yuliet teaches at Salsafestivals in the Nordic Countries and Europe.

Yuliet is an incredibly popular and well-liked international dance instructor, who is known for ther eaching with good humor, high engagement and exuberant energy level, where she has an especial focus on rhythm, technique and joy of dancing. Further Yuliet is a talented and expressive show dancer. At the Camp Yuliet will teach Cuban salsa with special focus  of a proactive call-respons communication,  leading & following and playing in the dance between men & women.

Next, we are particularly proud that we can present a following up on the last years totally popular cultural workshop “Body Culture, gender  sensuality and sexulality” with Yuliet and Mette Øyås Madsen, teachers at Brandbjerg Folk High School.  Yuliet is fluent in Spanish, English and Norwegian.

Rohan Brown, JA/UK

Once again we are proud to present Rohan Brown as instructor at the Nordic Salsa Camp. Rohan Brown are both working as instructor, DJ and MC. Before Rohan began to dance, he worked many years as, model, musician, basketball player and UN development consultant. Further Rohan has an education in body therapy, dance and movement.

Rohan is a super popular instructor known for his sparkling humor, good laughs and empathetic teaching and his moving and poetic dance performance. At the Camp Rohan will teach Cuban salsa, bachata and  son.

Further Rohan Brown together with Jesper Andersen teach at the culture workshop in mindfulness, body the Awareness, Self exprecion and Cuban salsa called BASEC – Where Rohan will combine his body therapeutic knowledge and dance experience.

Karelia Despaignes, CU

We are very pleased to welcome Karelia Despaigne from Santiago de Cuba as new director at Nordic Salsa Camp 2019 together with Yorge Armando from Havana in Cuba. We have been working on this since Karelia and Yorge successfully taught at Salsa Camp in Cuba in Havana in 2016 – And this year we succeeded!
Karelia Despaigne is a dancer, teacher and choreographer from Santiago de Cuba from among others Ballet Folklórico de Oriente and Sabor DKY. Today, Karelia lives in Havana, where she combine the post as founder and director of the dance group, Tierra Kaliente with a solo career, where Karelia teaches at salsa festivals in Cuba & Europe.
Karelia speaks fluent English, and she is a committed and super talented teacher with a strong dance technical and pedagogical look to promote, that the dance becomes a party, play and joy for both man and woman.  Further Karelia has a great knowledge of Cuban culture, which she wants to extend to the whole world while Karelia herself learns from other cultures and spreads dance joy on her way.
