Geldys Morales, CU

It´s  with great pleasure we again can present Geldys Morales at the Camp. Geldys is educated in Cuban salsa, afro and popular folkloric Cuban dances from the JJ. Afro-dance company in Havana. Further Geldys has participated in many international festivals and salsa events in Venezuela, Austria, Denmark and Norway.

Geldys is a super popular teacher at the Camp, where she is known for her charming teaching style and her excelent body control and her highly professional keen eye and magic touch for reading and supporting students in developing their body awareness and styling.

Geldys will this year have a special program in how to train and improve your body awareness and dance technique.

Yohan Corrioso, CU/DE (eng)

Vi er super glade for igen at kunne præsentere Yohan Carrioso på Nordic Salsa Camp, hvor Yohan skal undervise sammen med Diana Meldgård i Cuban Salsa, Play & Innovation.
Yohan er fra Cuba/Havanna, hvor han er uddannet i ballet, afro, rumba, son og cubansk salsa m.m. fra “Cenarte-Teatro y Danza”. Dernæst har Yohan undervist og danset i nogle af Havannas bedste show kompagnier og danseskoler som  “Cubaname”  og “ViaDanza”.
I de senere år har Yohan været bosat i Tyskland, hvor han i øjeblikket  underviser på danseskolen  “Conexion” i Frankfurt.
Yohan er i dag en af de mest populære og anerkendte cubanske salsa instruktører på den internationale cubanske salsa scene i dag, hvor han især er kendt for sin super dygtige og dedikerede undervisning med sprudlende energi, smittende humør og god humor – Samt kendt for at  give den fuld gas til festerne, hvor han danser med alle med et godt glimt i øjet. 

Gro Mygind (eng)

Gro Mygind er leder af Eventlab.

 
Når træerne kaster kastanjer på hendes vej, så føler Gro sig som noget helt særligt. Hun elsker at lave bål i haven og lagkage med sin søster. Gro elsker at vinde i Oswald mod sin mand på deres Commodore 64. At diskutere og danse hos Kaospiloterne. At drikke god kaffe med sine venner. At sige pyt. At se Almodóvar film i Øst for Paradis med sin far. Hun elsker deres sommerhus på Helgenæs, deres gedigne LP samling, tulipaner og at skabe mening! For eksempel ved at få eleverne til at få øje på egne og andres styrker, og give dem gå-på-mod.

Før Brandbjerg og EventLab har Gro arbejdet som studievalgsvejleder hos Studievalg København. Udover det har hun rejst i mere end 20 lande, er mor til verdens dejligste unger, har overnattet i et hjemsøgt hus og tomlet fra Tibet til Nepal. Gro tuder når hun ser Dumbo og er god til at bygge huler og lave lasagne. Gro bor sammen med sin mand Rasmus og deres søn Halfdan og datter Røskva.

Uddannelse


Gro er uddannet KaosPilot i 2010, har en coaching uddannelse og har læst dansk og didaktik som meritstuderende på Læreruddannelsen. Hun har endvidere taget uddannelsesforløb som mentor og i Højskole pædagogik. Hun har lavet mange projekter, workshops og udviklingsprocesser.

Rasmus Sejersen, DK (eng)

Rasmus Sejersen er uddannet fra musikkonservatoriet med sang, kor og bevægelse som hovedfag, og med 12 års sammenspilsundervisningserfaring er han en rutineret herre indenfor feltet. Det er med stor fornøjelse, at vi som en nyhed i år kan byde velkommen til Rasmus som Brandbjerg Højskoles ny musiklærer på Salsa Band Sammenspil. Rasmus grundlæggende værdier er helt i tråd med Campens fortolkning af Cubansk salsa:

“Smil, kærlighed og krammere gør ethvert liv rigere; i hvert fald mit! – Tid og ro er vigtigere end penge og travlhed, og når vi mærker hinanden både fysisk og mentalt, kan vi forandre og forandres. Det handler om at lytte og give; at sende noget ud og få noget igen”.

Når Rasmus ikke er på højskole spiller han hiphop-turnéer for skolebørn, skæv og anderledes musik på legetøjsinstrumenter, og laver hits med sit band ‘Good Evening People’. På Campen underviser Rasmus sammen med Theo Hjort og Jakob Johansen i Salsa Band Sammenspil og i kulturfaget cubansk salsa, musikalitet og bevægelse. Det sidste med Diana Meldgaard.  Dernæst kan I finde Rasmus i de mange jam-sessions og samspils-aktiviteter, der opstår på Campen i løbet af ugen.

Mette Øyås Madsen (eng)

Mediefag, vejledning, køn, krop og seksualitet

Mette har været på Brandbjerg siden 2006. Hun føler sig dagligt opløftet over at undervise i det, hun brænder allermest for, at gøre en forskel i elevernes liv og at dele arbejdsplads med de mest inspirerede og dygtige kollegaer, man kan forestille sig. Mette står for skolens mediefag, valgfaget ”køn, krop og seksualitet”, vejledningsstudiekredsen og er desuden tilknyttet hovedfaget Kompas som medunderviser. Derudover er Mette tovholder i Brandbjerg såkaldte KR-udvalg (kommunikation og rekruttering), kursusleder på sommerens store Nordic Salsa Camp og en ivrig salsa-, bachata- og kizombadanser.

Mette går for at være Brandbjergs mest kageglade menneske, gør jævnligt pinlige ting (for det meste utilsigtet), elsker at danse på alle tider af døgnet og bliver rolig når hun står foran havet. Privat bor Mette med sin mand og kollega, Casper, børnene Hannah og Louie samt hunden Cooper.

Uddannelse
Mette er cand.mag i filmvidenskab (hovedfag) og fransk (bifag) fra Københavns Universitet og har desuden en master i tv-drama fra Goldsmiths College i London. Mette tog i 2017 Højskole Pædagogisk Uddannelse (HPU), hvor hun skrev opgave om ”Seksuel dannelse i højskolefællesskaber”.

Bo Johansen, DK

Bo Johansen is a percussionist with great love for Cuban and Afro-Cuban music. Bo plays with the orchestras “Little Havana” and “Liga Latina”.  Bo is one of the few Danish musicians who play the special Cuban Bata drums and at Nordic Salsa Camp 2019 Bo will play bata-drums in the culture workshop “Orishas / Afro Cuban rhythmn, body culture & Cuban society”.
Bo has been to Cuba many times, latest in 2018 to get inspiration in his development as a percussionist, where Bo in Havana among others. has been taught percussionists from Conjunto Folklórico National, ISA (Instituto Superior del Arte) and from Isaac Delgado’s famous salsa band.
Bo has been participating from the beginning in the 1980s, when the salsa and cuban music movement began in Denmark. where Bo was involved in the starting the day school “Frontsession” in Aarhus and the Salsa courses at Vestjyllands Højskole. Since then, Bo has taught music at music schools and Folk High Schools in all over the country, where Bo has published a book and CD with Afro-Cuban rhythms and songs, that have been used on eg. conservatories, music schools and high schools, including Nordic Salsa Camp.
Beside the Orisha/Afro culture workshop Bo will help to innovate that music, jam sessions and interplay  will be a strong integrated part of  the social gathering at the Camp 2019.

Thomas Nygaard, DK

Thomas Nygaard has been a dance teacher since 1996 and teaches Cuban salsa, son, bachata and kizomba. Thomas has for many years been the artistic director of the Academy of Street Salsa in Copenhagen and judge at national and international salsa championships. Next, Thomas is a trained actor in drama, performance and storytelling.

Thomas has for many years been very popular dance instructor at the Nordic Salsa Camp, where he is known for his super educational teaching and formidable ability to communicate all aspects of dance from the leding techniques, communication, drama and sensuality.

Thomas this year will teach Cuban salsa with among others Johanna Andersen, where they are responsible for the special program at the intermediate level “Lets Play & Move forward!” with focus on basic salsa. Further Thomas again this year will teach, with high school teacher Gro Mygind, in the culture workshop ” Connection, storytelling  & Leadership”.

Diana Meldgaard, DK

Diana Meldgaard has a her own dance school in Aarhus & loves the Cuban culture, filled with music & dance. She has been dancing since 1996, & won the “Aarhus Open” salsa championship in 1999.  

Diana has lived a year in Cuba, where she studied at the highest level on the national dance school ENA and was given private lessons by teachers from Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba in 2002. Diana’s specialty is Cuban salsa and Afro-Cuban dance and Cuban salsa music. Diana is further the dynamic frontfigure and lead singer of one of the best salsa dance orchestras in Denmark: “Little Havana“.

Diana will at the Camp teach Cuban salsa and a culture workshop in musicality along with Jakob Johansen and Rasmus Sejersen. Further you for sure can find Diana in the many jam sessions activities going on at the Camp during the week, where Diana among others will perform with the Camp Teachers Son-Band at the theme party “Elegant Twins” Tuesday night.

Yuliet Estrada Linares – CU/NO

We are likewise very happy again to present Yuliet Estrada Linares at the Nordic Salsa Camp. Yuliet is a graduated dancer from Conjunto Folclorico de la Universidad de La Habana in Cuba. Yuliet has lived in Norway since 2008, where she works as a dance teacher and choreographer in Cuban salsa at the dance schools Danseglede and SalsaNor. Further Yuliet teaches at Salsafestivals in the Nordic Countries and Europe.

Yuliet is an incredibly popular and well-liked international dance instructor, who is known for ther eaching with good humor, high engagement and exuberant energy level, where she has an especial focus on rhythm, technique and joy of dancing. Further Yuliet is a talented and expressive show dancer. At the Camp Yuliet will teach Cuban salsa with special focus  of a proactive call-respons communication,  leading & following and playing in the dance between men & women.

Next, we are particularly proud that we can present a following up on the last years totally popular cultural workshop “Body Culture, gender  sensuality and sexulality” with Yuliet and Mette Øyås Madsen, teachers at Brandbjerg Folk High School.  Yuliet is fluent in Spanish, English and Norwegian.

Rohan Brown, JA/UK

Once again we are proud to present Rohan Brown as instructor at the Nordic Salsa Camp. Rohan Brown are both working as instructor, DJ and MC. Before Rohan began to dance, he worked many years as, model, musician, basketball player and UN development consultant. Further Rohan has an education in body therapy, dance and movement.

Rohan is a super popular instructor known for his sparkling humor, good laughs and empathetic teaching and his moving and poetic dance performance. At the Camp Rohan will teach Cuban salsa, bachata and  son.

Further Rohan Brown together with Jesper Andersen teach at the culture workshop in mindfulness, body the Awareness, Self exprecion and Cuban salsa called BASEC – Where Rohan will combine his body therapeutic knowledge and dance experience.
