Dance levels (Eng)

Selecting dance levels at the Cuban salsa line

You can basically register at one of the following 7 dance levels: Beginner, Easy, Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Advanced 3 Advanced 4 and Advanced 5 (masterclass).

You must register with a registration dance partner at the same dance level in relation to this description of the dance levels. This is a guide so that you can register at roughly the right level in Cuban salsa, as the names for levels differ from dance school to dance school. At the Camp itself, we will make a final fine-tuning of classes and dance levels.

Beginner:
You are a beginner in Cuban salsa and want to learn to dance Cuban salsa

Intermediate:
You have completed the equivalent of approx. 20 hours of easy instruction and/or have been dancing salsa for at least 6 months. You are confident in the rhythm, can vary your dance and are not afraid to work with your body.

Advanced 1:
You have completed the equivalent of approx. 40 hours of instruction at beginner and intermediate level and/or have danced salsa for at least a year. You can now dance salsa without “thinking”. The dance is starting to flow, you would like to have a larger repertoire

Advanced 2:
You have received salsa lessons for 3 seasons, corresponding to approx. a total of 60 hours of instruction and have danced salsa for more than a year and a half. You are learning very quickly now, and you have now focused on styling and bodywork.

You have received at least 80 hours of group instruction supplemented with courses at festivals etc. You have danced salsa for at least 2 years. You are already an experienced dancer who learns new things very quickly, and now want to get a complete handle on your styling and bodywork and the incorporation of Afro/Cuban elements.

Advanced 4:
You are an experienced salsa dancer at a high level who has danced salsa for many years and you have a handle on styling and bodywork. You enjoy being challenged with, among other things, Afro/Cuban elements and want to perfect your dancing in terms of listening, improvising and expressing yourself stylistically and physically based on your interpretation of the music.

Advanced 5:
You dance Cuban salsa at masterclass level. This means that you basically master all styles, bodywork and rhythms in Cuban salsa, and you focus on developing your musicality and improvisation in the dance.
