Music teachers – Nordic Salsa Camp Band 2025

We are super happy that we are able to present for you our dream team of super skilled and dedicated Nordic Salsa Camp Band music teachers, consisting of:

Theo Benjamin Hjorth (Piano & keyboard)
Theo Hjorth is a super skilled and committed teacher of Cuban salsa ensemble. Over the years, many of Theo’s students from Nordic Salsa Camp Band have continued to play Cuban salsa in small groups or salsa bands.

In addition to teaching the band at Nordic Salsa Camp, Theo also teaches Cuban salsa band ensemble at the Music Conservatory in Aarhus. Theo Hjort has, among other things, been to Cuba and received lessons in salsa/timba piano and keyboard playing from the famous Cuban timba and keyboard player Cesar “Pupy” Pedroso, from the band Pupy y los que Son Son.

Next, Theo Hjorth is well known on the Cuban salsa music scene, where Theo plays in several Cuban salsa bands such as: Lazos D´Cuba and El Benjamin de la Salsa,

Jesus Cutiño (Song, Bass, Tres)
Jesus Cutiño is a super dedicated and skilled Cuban singer, bass and tres player and teacher in Cuban salsa band ensemble. Jesus Cutiño participated in Nordic Salsa Camp for the first time in 2024, where he took the entire Camp by storm by helping to lift the Nordic Salsa Band to an extra level with his inspiring  dynamic energy and inclusive way of involving both his fellow teachers and students and with his playful song improvisation skills and Cuban “Sabor”.

Jesus Cutiño comes from a trova musician family from Las Tunas in Cuba. In 1998, Jesús moved to London and quickly became part of the city’s vibrant salsa scene, where he performed with several bands and performed or shared the stage with many prestigious artists, including Oscar D’Leon, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tito Nueves, Lusito Quintero, Cano Estremera, Lusito Carrion, Maelo Ruiz, Tito Gomez, Leodan and Roberto Torres.

Jesus Cutiño enjoys singing and playing all forms of Cuban salsa from timba to son, cha cha cha, mambo and bolero.

Rasmus Sejersen: (guitar & song)
Music teacher at Brandbjerg Folk High School and leader of the band: “Good Evening People”
Rasmus sings and plays guitar and is super good at creating a wonderful atmosphere and unity in the Nordic Salsa Band and ensuring that the band and sound blend into a higher music unity and experience.
